BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) is a non-profit and voluntary European organisation for students of technology. Since 1989, we have been creating a growing, dynamic, innovative and well-organised network of students, which provides complementary education for future engineers by encouraging communication, cooperation and exchange of students in the exclusive technical universities and faculties. Our priority is to offer high-quality services to technical students from all over Europe.
Every year, BEST Porto organizes an Academic Course, open to all European students enrolled in
member universities of the vast BEST network.
We will be selecting 22 applicants and provide them with the unique opportunity to receive formation
and be able to share ideas with students
coming from different countries and learn everything about Portuguese culture and Porto.
Do you know where your country’s energy comes from? Are you aware of the main ways in which your country is making a profit out of sustainability, these days?
Sustainability is a hot topic nowadays, and so, this year, our 12 day Summer Course will be addressing it by answering these questions, having the areas of Sea, Cutting Edge Devices and Renewable Energies as its main focus.
By the end of this course, you will have seen from up close some cutting edge devices used to promote sustainability; learnt how can we make the sea more profitable, and the way companies strive to manage their business in a way that impacts both society and the environment, by focusing on corporate social responsibility, environmental protection and green development, and no longer just on revenue and profit and been acquainted with the change taking place in the water sports industry in order to cause a less harmful impact.
All of this will be accomplished through enthusiastic lectures, workshops, and a case study to put in practice what you have learnt.
Porto is a city located in the north of Portugal, at the mouth of the Douro River. While the city itself only has an area of 41.42 square kilometres and a population of over 235 thousand inhabitants, it is the centre of the second largest metropolitan area in the country. And it was elected as 2017 Best European Destination!
Porto has a rich cultural history, being known as “Cidade Invicta” (which means “unvanquished
city”), mainly for having withstood a siege for over one year! Not only that, it’s been said the
gastronomy there is quite good, with a special reference to the “Francesinha”, this tiny little
dish that is enough to feed an entire army. However, better than our history or gastronomy we
have the people, who are warm and welcoming, especially during summer time! Oh, and did you
think we were forgetting about Port Wine? We save the best to the last.
